Grid reliability watchdog, the North American Electric Reliability Corp., warns America to hold onto its collective butt. Storms are coming. — Emmet Penney

For the uninitiated (including myself), the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) is a non-profit international regulatory authority whose mission is to ensure the reliability and security of the bulk power system in North America.
They act as "traffic controllers" for the electricity grid in North America. They set the rules, monitor the system, and ensure everyone follows them to keep the power flowing.
Given the expected weather over the next two to three weeks, the traffic lights are blinking red, and Jim Robb, the NERC’s President and CEO, is sounding an alarm.
